Howdy Neighbors- grab your coffee and pull up a chair, I’ve got something I’d just love your help with.
It occurs to me (as I’m sure it does to you) that we are living in a world that’s almost designed to have us look further and further from home in search of food, goods and well, just about everything. Thanks to the all-powerful entity that is modern technology it feels like we are consuming things locally. Afterall, most of our shopping can be done with the click of a few buttons from the comfort of our own home, even just in the palm of our hand. However, most of our food has crossed an ocean to get to us, all of our clothing is made halfway around the world and our furniture, if you can call it that (what is particle board exactly?) arrives disassembled and basically ready to break.
I’d like to echo the call from our very first blog post- Healthful Provisions For Your Subdivisions- Please consider helping us knit our community together even more tightly by sharing your wonderful knacks.
Our little town is just BURSTING with skilled, talented, knowledgeable neighbors. Master gardeners, craftsmen of all sorts, photographers, yoga teachers, seamstresses, cooks and cake makers…..So many people with useful skills and information to share, teach, sell and the like. If you or anyone you know is such a neighbor, I encourage you to please get in touch with me. While I know we live in a world with things like NextDoor and FB Marketplace, we in the Rebel Chef kitchen would love nothing more than to be a hub/crossroads/town square for neighbors to quickly locate each other when they find themselves in need or with a desire to share. Again- if this applies to or interests you or anyone you know in our community, please reach out to us via email or phone.
BAM. Business concluded, let’s talk food:
IT’S BREAKFAST FOR DINNER!!
I don’t know about you but every time we tell our kids it’s breakfast for dinner, it always seems to make for a truly excellent night. What is it about flipping that script that’s equal parts cozy comfort and wild excitement? Whatever it is, we’re here for it.
Our breakfast for dinner boxes will come with a potato, bell pepper and onion breakfast hash (because we wanna get those veggies in no matter the meal!) + a hearty square of velvety egg and cheese casserole. Add a side of savory browned breakfast sausage if it calls to you!
RC Breakfast Box- no meat $12
RC Breakfast Box + side of sausage $14
Kiddie/Trial Size Box- no Meat $6
Kiddie/Trial Size Box +side of sausage $8
Aj says: ‘Keep it classy and drink a black cup of coffee. Or a Hamms. While usually overlooked by the medical community, vitamin H is an essential part of a balanced lifestyle.’
Can you think of a better way to wash down breakfast for dinner than with cookies for dessert? Our cookies are homemade, with high quality ingredients and less sugar than your typical baked good- without sacrificing flavor!
Cookies by the half dozen
Oatmeal Raisin 6 for $8
Gluten Free Nut Butter (peanut and almond) Chocolate Chip 6 for $10
Mix and match 3 of each for $9
^^we should have given this as an option for the muffins- we know better now!
AJ says: ‘I have long been a fan of Tawny Port with dessert. It matters not what sort of sweet you throw at it, Port WILL enhance the depth and richness of any baked/pastry flavors.’
That’s all folks- Happy Eating!
